SOUND CISTEM

(2019- Currently Touring)

Winner of Offies Award 2021 IDEA Production

Two transgender performers say “up yours” to the gender binary, and invite you to their radical dance party!

COPY: Set in nightclubs, Sound Cistem is a joyous verbatim show about the cisgender gaze on the transgender body. Featuring recorded interviews with trans and non-binary people, a self-love manifesto is made through a riotous, glittering disco. This duo keep moving to reject conformity and shame despite the current “transgender debate”.

TRANS VOICES SPEAK OUT: Sound Cistem is a celebration of queer bodies, and a radical call against the policing of them. In today’s media firestorm, transgender people have their validity, existence and worth freely called into question. Our society is avidly fixated on trans bodies, as shown by live television, front page headlines and Piers Morgan’s Twitter. Yet real trans voices continue to be marginalized. In Sound Cistem, a trans-man and a non-binary person reclaim their bodies from unwanted and dangerous narratives. They create their own sound, and turn it up loud.

"Sound Cistem was great. It approaches the topic with real testimonies and unique perspectives, giving real insight into lived experiences. It’s very different from anything else out there, which we loved, and the audience response was heartfelt and overwhelmingly positive.

An anarchic, surreal live-stream, hosted on YouTube, where Ayden and Lizard will do ANYTHING to convince you to join their banana cult: The International Friend Circle of the Wise Fruity Men.

COPY: Ayden and Lizard have discovered “the truth”: that bananas hold the secret to the perfect life, and they must convince their followers to consume “as many bananas as your lifestyle will allow”. The Intergalactic Friend Circle of the Wise Fruity Men needs more members, and Lizard and Ayden will do anything to convince you to join: including competitive banana-eating, choreographed infomercials and satanic rituals. Expect to be shocked, appalled and downright confused, as Lizard and Ayden interact with you through the livechat. The Age of Disinformation is upon us.

HOMELANDS

(2020)

IMG_0725.jpg

Homelands was an interactive lockdown project, commissioned by HOMEmcr, exploring what happens when everything you know has been turned upside down.

Participants were thrown into the centre of an imagined world and asked to creatively respond to the upheaval they found themselves in. Each participant received a unique story in the post, and were sent a recorded audio to accompany it- encouraging them to respond creatively to it, to conjure escapism and grounding activity through fantasy worlds.

Homelands was a collaborative way to catalogue human ingenuity and provide escapism during a time of crisis. It was for anyone who needed a creative outlet and sense of connection during the complicated time of Covid-19.

An intense physical theatre production following Corporal Drury, a homeless veteran with PTSD struggling against the mental health cuts.

Without a stable home, he is forced to fight against impending homelessness and the mental health cuts, all in the playroom of his ex-girlfriend’s son. With humour and heartbreak, Plaster Cast explore what has caused Liam’s once regimented life to spiral into utter collapse.
